Pleasant Valley resident Bruce R. Daniels, better known as "Bucky," was found around 4:36 p.m., Monday, April 1, following 911 calls to the Hyde Park Police Department for a possible drowning, said Chief Robert Benson.

Once on the scene at 40 Crum Elbow, police and members of the  Roosevelt Rescue Squad found the 75-year-old Daniels unconscious at the private fishing club fishing pond. Other people fishing heard him in the water, Benson said.

Bystanders had pulled him from the water and started CPR with instructions from emergency dispatchers. Officers and members of the Roosevelt rescue squad used a defibrillator and continued CPR.

Daniels was transported by Mobile life to MidHudson Regional Hospital, Benson said.

"We are saddened to report a short time later he was pronounced dead," Benson added.

The cause of death is not known at this time. An autopsy will be performed Tuesday, April 2, by the Dutchess County Medical Examiner.

Assisting at the scene included the Roosevelt Rescue Squad and Mobile Life Paramedics.
